Patch Expedition

About The Patch Expedition

The Patch Expedition is all about pushing boundaries, daring to dream and then doing something about it. We believe that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things and that’s exactly what we intend to do. We are ordinary people. We have typical nine to five jobs, earn an average salary and live a ‘normal’ life however, we have a big dream. We want to raise a lot of money to help those who aren't fortunate enough to have what we call an ordinary life by climbing the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest.

The Big Idea

The idea for Patch came about during a sleepless night when we were trying to come up with a way of making our dream a reality. Typically, Everest expeditions are funded through corporate sponsorship whereby a small number of companies donate relatively large amounts of money to the expedition team. We realised that this is something we needed to do too, however, we also wanted to get as many people involved with the expedition as we possibly could to raise awareness and lots of money to help those who need it most. Rather than just collecting sponsorship from people, we also thought it would be great if we could somehow involve everyone in the journey and make each and every one of our sponsor's a part of the expedition. A few hours and a lot of coffee later, the Patch Expedition was born.

The Grand Plan

We are planning the biggest team approach to climbing the world's highest mountain ever attempted. Our plan is to create a huge (well in relative terms) flag made up of over 50,000 patches. On these patches will be the pictures of people from all over the world who have come together to be part of an Everest expedition to raise a huge amount of money for UNICEF. The giant flag, and everyone on it, will be with us throughout our journey and in May 2011, together we'll stand on the top of world as we fly the flag from the summit of Everest.

Join the Team, Sponsor a Patch

By sponsoring a Patch you’ll be joining thousands of others as your picture is printed on the largest flag ever flown on the summit of Everest. By becoming a part of the Patch Expedition team you’ll also be helping UNICEF to make a difference to thousands of children across Nepal and South Asia through one of their many projects in the region. We've had the big idea and we’ve got the grand plan, however we need your help to make it happen.
